Ballard, Washington is a historic logging and fishing town with a big Scandinavian population, originally founded in 1889. In 1907 the town became part of Seattle. It's now a popular nightlife, shopping, and brewery area with a great farmers market on a charming main street, the old downtown of the independent town.
Ballard was called the "Shingle Capital of the World" thanks to its lumber industry, where 18 mills turned out up to 3 million wood shingles for roofs and exterior walls a day, thanks to the bountiful timber around Seattle.
So we made this old school shirt with a view of old Ballard across the Ship Canal. If you look closely you can see the old Ballard city hall behind the mills and piles of lumber.
Ballard still has a thriving fishing industry with hundreds of boats docked just across the water at the Fishermans Terminal. One of the "Deadliest Catch" boats is based in Ballard, for example. Not so many shingles anymore though.
The tri-blend fabric creates a vintage, fitted look. And extreme durability makes this t-shirt withstand repeated washings and still remain super comfortable.
• 50% polyester, 25% combed ring-spun cotton, 25% rayon
• Fabric weight: 3.4 oz/yd² (115.3 g/m²)
• Pre-shrunk for extra durability
• 40 singles
• Regular fit
• Side-seamed construction
This product is made especially for you as soon as you place an order, which is why it takes us a bit longer to deliver it to you. Making products on demand instead of in bulk helps reduce overproduction, so thank you for making thoughtful purchasing decisions!
